“Every man dies – Not every man really lives.” ~ William Ross

So I asked my roommate last night, “Nelo what’s in your bucket list?” you know what she said? “Soap and Sponge”…. I couldn’t even stop laughing.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. I just let my mind wander and drift. I let my self dream and let my thoughts wander as far as possible.

Finally it landed on a mine – BUCKET LIST!!!
If you haven’t heard about the term “bucket list”, it is a list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill and life experiences you desire to experience before you die.

The Brevity Of Life.

Do you ever wonder if you are just living or merely existing?
When was the last time you did something challenging? Ever feel your days are passing you by without any tangible output to speak of? What did you accomplish in the past 3 months? What are your upcoming goals for the next 3 months? Look at the things you did and the things you’re planning to do next – Do they mean anything to you if you are to die today? Having a bucket list reminds you of what’s really important so you can act on them.
Bucket list is a platform to set anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to do, whether it’s big, small or random. Mundane or extraordinary.
To cut the long story here’s my BUCKET LIST!!!! (Just few of them on the blog for today. Others should be in the journal somewhere in the room…winks***). I feel sharing them on my blog will make me more committed and dedicated and accountable.

1) GRADUATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN BY 2016!!!
This is not only a Bucket List but a PRAYER! In my country Nigeria, there’s this thing called “ASUU”. They kinda regulate the academic calendar through strike actions and you find out that people stay in school much longer than they should.
I celebrated two Birthdays in my Second year no thanks to ASUU and really I’m praying such doesn’t happen again.
So top of the bucket list is to graduate with my LLB degree come 2016.

2) LEARN TO PLAY THE GUITAR. My roommate has this guitar that she has “neglected”. it’s literally screaming “SOMEONE SHOULD COME AND PLAY WITH ME”. I challenged her and told her I was going to learn to play the guitar before her. Good thing she’s going for her IT without it. I have gotten a tutor and my lesson will begin as soon as I’m done with my 1st semester exams.
You all better get read for my covers!

3) TAKE A “SELFIE” WITH THE INSTITUTION THAT IS CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE <<< Click on the link as it summarises my love for Chimamanda in few lines.
How am I going to get that selfie? Cos everyone seems to be taking selfies with CHIMAMANDA and I’m supposed to be the one holding the phone high and smiling like an idiot…Not them.
This is the plan though, I’m going to apply for next year’s Farafina Trust Creative Writing Workshop. Meaning I have to work my hands out by writing a nice story that would get me picked. That’s the plan.

Selfie with the BAE soon….

This was a conversation between my roommate and I. This goes a long way to show you how much WE LOVE CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE!!! We crave to meet her just like the way we crave chicken and chips when hungry... And Ohhh "Onye Aguru" means "A HUNGRY PERSON"!! HAHA

4) PUBLISH TWO BOOKS AT LEAST BEFORE I’M 30!!!

Just like Hunter S. Thompson said and I Quote “As things stand now, I’m going to be a writer. I’m not sure that I’m going to be a good one or even a self-supporting one, but until the dark thumb of fate presses me to the dust and says” YOU ARE NOTHING”, I’ll be a writer.”

This means a lot to me. I want to be a writer. I’ll be a writer.

5) PHOTOGRAPHY!!!

I’ll be taking classes soon on photography and my NIKON baby is on the way. I’ve always loved photography. But now I think I’ll like to make a little something out of it.

P/S : Working on a project and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But let’s leave the gist for the cooler.

6) TRAVEL THE WORLD. THAT IS TO SAY, I’LL GO FOR A HILLSONG CONCERT BEFORE I DIE!
I’m a big fan of HILLSONG and really one of the things I want to do before God calls me home is to go for a concert in AUSTRALIA… I must tap into such heavenly form of worship.

I don’t want to bore you all. As time goes by and as I accomplish and become all I want to, I’ll tick them and post on the blog.

Think about it, if your life ended tomorrow, what would you regret not doing? Because you will die, you must live now. All we have is NOW.
Don’t be wrapped up in non-essential stuff that you forget to really enjoy yourself.

Right now I’m doing things I never thought I would do and could do. And everyone has noticed this change. The bucket list is getting longer and I’M AMAZED! Do something crazy, something out of character…My friends call me ADRIEL / CHIMDINMA 2.0 and won’t stop asking what happened to the older version of me. Everyone is practically tapping from my positivity without me even trying.
Anything could be in the list. You can make it a point to tell someone you love how much they mean to you, show an act of kindness without expecting something in return, surprise someone, be a mentor and an inspiration to someone, start that business, pursue your passion, volunteer to work with and for the less privileged or for a cause that you are passionate about, DO PUBLIC SPEAKING….Go for that picnic, learn that new language………
God, there’s so much to do!

Plan to amaze yourself!
Take that step.
Be a better version of Yourself.
Create your BUCKET LIST.
Live and stop existing.

BREAK THE DAMN RULES!!!

I have learnt to open my self to the world cos when you do just that the world will open its self to you.

Love xoxo
