Graduation Portrait.

Beautiful people, It’s been a while. Merry Christmas!
Forgive my absence. I have been trying to get my life together; from graduation to a tax summer school and to preparations for a job interview. I’ll explain with loads of pictures.

Stay with me.

I worry a lot. About everything and when I say everything, I mean every single thing. I worry about money. I worry about my dad. I worry about my mum. I worry about my only brother. I worry about my four sisters. I worry about my grades. And I worry about my FUTURE – this is becoming a serious problem. Continue reading “BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING…”

There’s something very humane about telling your own stories. I have tried severally to tell the stories of others but I’ve come to realise that I SUCK AT TELLING THE STORIES OF OTHERS.
I love telling my own stories. I love sharing my experiences. I love talking about the mundane and the extraordinary, what I love and all that. And so I want to talk about MY MIRACLE.

Ashes to Ashes.

What you are about to read is an inspirational poem written by MARIANNE WILLIAMSON. I’m pretty sure you must have heard it somewhere or read it somewhere too. I’ve always seen lines from the poem in different articles. Fortunately for me, I got the whole package last week Saturday in my Public-speaking club. I was overwhelmed at the wonderful thoughts of the write up. I felt as though it was written specifically for me and I am sure each and every one of you will feel that way after reading.

This message is for you. Read a line. STOP. Take a breath. THINK. Read a line. Let the simple words of this poem change something in you.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

RHEMA!!!! someone is touched…… go out and shine.. step outa that comfort zone and SHINE… THRIVE.. BLOOM….

When I was much younger, my Aunt taught my siblings and I a song. Actually, it was a poem written by Russel Kelfer but she turned it into a very wonderful piece of music (wish you guys could hear me sing it) LOL!!.. It is so inspirational and I’m going to put the “lyrics” down here…

His poem has touched millions, One of the many amazing things about this bible teacher was that he was blind.

N/B : my aunt added a refrain of hers:

“You are far above rubies (2x)
You are precious and perfect unique design, called God’s special woman/man”

You are who you are for a reason.
You’re part of an intricate plan.
You’re a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God’s special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You’re just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom designed with God’s plan in mind,
And they bear the Master’s seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you’d grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You’ve been formed by the Master’s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

I think what the poet was trying is this : YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT. Your breath, race, skin colour, every single detail of your body was prescribed by God.
He determined your natural talents : singing, acting, writing etc. Nothing in your life is arbitrary. IT IS ALL FOR GOD’S PURPOSE.
Pastor Rick Warren made me understand that God is not haphazard. The more discoveries we hear about, the better we understand how uniquely suited they are for human life.
God made you so he could LOVE you so build your life on that truth. You don’t need to worry about that deformity or failure or disappointment : IT IS ALL FOR A PURPOSE – GOD’S PURPOSE.

God uniquely created you and although there are some things you find difficult to accept always know that you’ll prosper because it is all for a purpose.

I’ve been wanting to post something on worship, but I’ve not had the time to do this. Fortunately, I found time and I hope you gain a thing or so from it.

Generally, we know worship to be the singing of cool songs where we raise our hands to the All knowing God and praise to be the hot one, where we dance and move our body. That’s something I’m going to correct because everything we do is WORSHIP to God. I mean, that’s how it is meant to be and that’s what God intended.

Let me tell you a story. One Sunday in my Church, my pastor announced that the Wednesday of that week was going to be a Praise Mid-week Service and a special guest minister was going to do the singing, everyone was excited.
On the Wednesday, the Church was full to the brim, unlike the normal past mid-week services. People came with expectations, they wanted to see this Guest Minister that everyone said could sing so well. He was a young man, and so we all expected to enjoy “ourselves” and dance to “our” satisfaction. When he started his ministration, it sounded good, I danced but all of a sudden I wasn’t feeling it anymore (I wasn’t the only one) . I think I sat down at a point. A friend of mine said “The church band is even better” . He kept on repeating the lines and truth be told I was disappointed.
After the midweek service, I got home and picked up my copy of “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren,I continued from where I stopped. And when I opened the Day 8 chapter, I realised that God wanted to teach me something very important from the Mid-Week service I had just attended.

After reading that chapter of the book, I understood that bringing pleasure to God is called WORSHIP and worship is a lifestyle. It is far more than music. Everything we do is worship to God, worship has nothing to do with the style/volume/speed or song. Worship isn’t for our benefit. Worship is for God. Worship should be our life. A lifestyle of worship is doing everything as if you are doing it for Christ.
So whenever you go for a service and your not in sync with the worship, Just know that its not for your pleasure. It is for God. YOU WERE PLANNED FOR GOD’S PLEASURE (Psalm 149 : 4)

I’ll leave you with the refrain of a song by Jason Gray…

Does your worship have hands?
Does it have feet?
Does it stand up in the face of injustice?
Does our worship bow down?
Does it run deep?

Is it more than a song
That fades with our voices?
Does it fade with our voices?

Real Worship is falling in love with Jesus.

I woke up on the 6th of January, ready for school, after the 6months old ASUU strike that is finally going to affect the students.
Our journey started around 8O’clock. The journey is always a very long one. We are talking 9-13 hours on the road. First of all, I’ll like to say I always learn something new each time I embark on my journey to IBADAN. And on that day, I learnt about PATIENCE and GRACE, its not like the word is new to me or something , In fact, one of my favourite quotes is this : PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE – got it from a movie I saw when I was much younger and haven’t forgotten.
Enough of the digression. I was talking about my journey to school.

When we were about getting to the BENIN/ORE road we met this standstill. The cars and trucks were just not moving. Everything was on hold. I looked at my time, twenty minutes gone. Okay, I’m irritated and itchy and sweaty already. Some Vehicles started reversing because rumour had it that there was a smaller route, a better route, which could be taken rather than being stuck and in traffic.
Some folks at the back were telling the driver not to move. “Driver, be patient” “Small, Small, this line go move” and all “assuring” statements.
But I said “No o!! Driver we could be here for 2hours without any show, so please , follow, others who are reversing”

I won’t say I convinced the driver, because his mind seemed made-up to me already. And so he reversed and followed others. And 5minutes into the “better and shorter route” the bus got bad. All the passengers began ranting in anger.

And my inner goddess said “Well, Shut-up, anything would have happened to the bus whether we went through that way or not”. And I thought to my self, Yes o!! Because we were not the only people that went through that way. It would have been any other vehicle. And then it clicked! “GRACE” that is where the place of Grace comes in.
Most times we want to follow the crowd, forgetting that our destines are not the same. Someone else’s good could be your bad and vice versa. The high in life is a very big one and you are not in competition with anybody. The Grace God has bestowed on you is different from what he has given others.

Well, if only we knew we would have been patient. We wouldn’t have joined others in following the “short cut”.
The driver had to turn and continue with the former route because he needed a mechanic. And when we got to the highway we were at the back of the traffic line, that had unfortunately for us, started moving. If only we knew, the Driver would have just stayed a little longer.

I’m sure y’all get where I’m driving at. PATIENCE is indeed a virtue. Everything in life is not gotten in a hurry. Remember : SLOW and STEADY WINS THE RACE. We should always learn how to “Chill” “Calm down”.

The Driver finally got the mechanic and our bus was repaired and at 8:07pm, I was at the front gate of my School.
…….After 6months…….

Forgiveness is the act of overcoming the feeling of resentment or revenge from an offender.
Forgiveness is subjective and the act of forgiveness can have many meanings.
Acceptance of apology may be forgiveness for some, while helping the other who hurt you to get out of the habit of ill-treatment may be a way for others.
The power of forgiveness goes beyond restoring a broken friendship. It is also a chance to demonstrate affection for the offender despite the offence committed. When a friend has wronged you, it is first of all imperative to draw his/her attention to it and to understand why the offence was made. When attention is drawn, he/she may be genuinely apologetic of which it is important to forgive. With such gestures, you not only demonstrate a forgiving heart, but you also strengthen the trust and love that brought you two close in the first place. However, sometimes the extent to which your trust is breached determines the ease or difficulty in forgiving. But then again, it is also true that the more easily we forgive the other person, the less likely we suffocate ourselves through keeping bad intentions for the offender.

Our grudges will only affect the relationship with the person and not hurt the other person in any way. Thus, the ability to forgive gives us a sense of freedom and makes us suffer less and feel lesser misery and pain. As we learn to forgive others, we can also seek forgiveness when we wrong people. Those who forgive help create positive energy on this planet.

On this note, I encourage you all to let go of past offences burning within us presently and embrace forgiveness to reap its benefits.
