THOSE WHO BOUNCE

I like people who have scars, are dirty, rough around the edges, scuffed up and smudged. It’s the shiny people who worry me. I don’t know what to make of them. Individuals who are always trying to convince others they have it all together, always giving advice, always have the right answer. Those who look pretty, act right, speak eloquent words dripping with condescension are the ones who scare me.

I want to be around people who have hit rock bottom. I want to hear their story. However, these are the ones who are reticent to talk of the path they’ve traveled for fear you may be overwhelmed at the depth of their depravity. The shiny ones are always ready to tell you something about them, ready for you to be impressed when you they whip out their credentials, all polished and glowing.

I like being around people who say the wrong things at the wrong time. Someone who isn’t comfortable with the shiny ones, who stands in the corner knowing they don’t fit in, is the person I want to hang out with, become friends with, share my life with.

I don’t want to journey with the satisfactory, adequate, reasonable, quite good, fair, decent, good enough, sufficient, sufficiently good, fine, not bad, all right, average, tolerable, passable, middling, moderate folks.

I want to be with those who are more like me.

OUR DEEPEST FEARS

Inspirational-poem-from-Marianne-Williamson-about-our-deepest-fears-in-life

What you are about to read is an inspirational poem written by MARIANNE WILLIAMSON. I’m pretty sure you must have heard it somewhere or read it somewhere too. I’ve always seen lines from the poem in different articles. Fortunately for me, I got the whole package last week Saturday in my Public-speaking club. I was overwhelmed at the wonderful thoughts of the write up. I felt as though it was written specifically for me and I am sure each and every one of you will feel that way after reading.

This message is for you. Read a line. STOP. Take a breath. THINK. Read a line. Let the simple words of this poem change something in you.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

RHEMA!!!! someone is touched…… go out and shine.. step outa that comfort zone and SHINE… THRIVE.. BLOOM….

MANDELA’S WORDS ON MARBLE

  • ImageImageImage·         Appearances matter – and remember to smile.
  • ·         As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
  • ·         I am the captain of my soul.
  • ·         Where you stand depends on where you sit.
  • ·         I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.
  • ·         The greatest glory in living lies not in ever falling, but in rising every time we fall.
  • ·         As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.
  • ·         Lead from the back and let others believe they are in front.
  • ·         One of the things I learned when I was negotiating was that until I changed my self, I could not change others.
  • ·         It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.
  • ·         Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.
  • ·         A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.
  • ·         It always seems impossible until it is done.
  • ·         After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.
  • ·         Poverty is not an accident, life slavery and apartheid; it is manmade and can be removed by the actions of human beings.
  • ·         As I have said the first thing is to be honest with yourself.
  • ·         WE ASK OURSELVES, WHO AM I TO BE BRILLIANT, GORGEOUS, HANDSOME, TALENTED AND FABULOUS? ACTUALLY, WHO ARE YOU NOT TO BE?
  • ·         Courage is not the absence of fear – it is inspiring others to move beyond it.
  • ·         Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
  • ·         ONCE A PERSON IS DETERMINED TO HELP THEMSELVES, THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN STOP THEM.

THRIVING

Yaaay!! I’ve fallen in love with a new word. “Thriving” “Thrive” .
Okay, one of my favourite singing groups “Casting Crowns” would be releasing their new album next year January, the name of the album is “THRIVE”.
When I saw the word I decided to check the dictionary meaning to get a deeper understanding. Its not like I had no idea what it meant but I became curious all of a sudden.

According to the online dictionary I used , thriving means :

1. To make steady progress; prosper.

2. To grow vigorously; flourish

3. To grow strongly.

4. To do well.

5. To be successful.

6. To fly high.

7. To gain in wealth and possessions.

8. To progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances.(My Fav)

The “opposites” of this word include :
1. Fail

2. Decline

3. Wither

4. Wilt

5. Wane

6. Perish

7. Languish

8. Droop

9. Shrivel

10. Stagnate

So now that we’ve gotten the meaning of this word, the question is What do you THRIVE on?! What makes you successful? What makes you prosper? What makes you strong!!!?! WHAT DO YOU THRIVE ON. Do you thrive against all odds ( good, bad). Do you give up at the dying moment because you think you can’t make it?

I don’t know about you dear, But I want to THRIVE. I want to flourish. I want to shoot up. I want to bloom. I want to conquer.
Say to yourself : I CHOOSE TO THRIVE! I CAN, I WILL, I CHOOSE TO FREE MY SELF FROM NEGATIVITY OF ALL FORMS.
We were made for so much more, We were made to THRIVE!!! And we can only thrive with GOD. He’s the only source. Quoting Casting Crowns lead Singer , “Life can be so challenging and it’s easy to become overwhelmed. What a gift to be reminded we were made to thrive! ‘Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.’”

For Hall, nature seemed to underscore scripture on a family vacation in Gatlinburg, Tenn. when he looked at the trees near the river. “Their roots are exposed and you can feel them just doing everything they can to get to where the water is,” he says. “When I talk to families about how they are doing, they always say ‘just surviving.’ That is not the life that God designed for us to live. That’s not saying that you’re not going to have problems. None of the New Testament people had it easy. They all had troubles, some even at the expense of their lives. The book of joy, Philippians, was written from prison. Hard times are going to come, but God didn’t put you here just so you could survive through hard times. He put you here to thrive, to dig in and to reach out. This record is an effort to draw a picture of what a believer, a follower of Jesus, would look like if they dug into their roots and understood God and themselves more, and then instead of trying to go be Christian for God, they just let God give them chances to be a Christian.”

“If I could just get to the weekend.”
“If I could just get through this semester.”
“If I could just get to the vacation.”
“If I could just make it through today.”
So many of us today are simply surviving. But we were not made to survive, we were made to Thrive. Like a tree planted by the water (Jeremiah 17:7-8) we should be digging into God’s word to know Him and know who He has made us to be. We should be reaching out to the world and showing others who He is through our lives and our stories – knowing Him and making Him known.

That is what THRIVING is all about. Thriving is not about surviving or managing or coping. NO!! Its all about flourishing vigorously!
So, when next you are asked “How are you?” Don’t just say I’m “there” “managing” “surviving”. Look into the face of the person and say “I’M THRIVING”!!!!!!!!!!!

….Because we were made to thrive.

HERE AT YOUR FEET

STELLA

Here at Your feet, I lay my past down
My wanderings, all my mistakes down
And I am free

Here at Your feet, I lay this day down
Not in my strength, but in Yours I’ve found
All I need, You’re all I need
Jesus, Jesus, at Your feet
Oh, to dwell and never leave
Jesus, Jesus.

At Your feet There is nowhere else for me
There is nowhere else for me Here at Your feet.
I lay my future down, all of my dreams, I give to You now and I find peace, I find peace.

Here at Your feet, I lay my life down For You my King, You’re all I want now
And my soul sings…

STAY FOCUSED!!!!

Guest Writer : STELLA.

The Sooty Shearwater is the most focused animal on the planet. This New Zealand bird flies up to 74,000kilometers on its yearly migration, averaging more than 500km per day. During this largely solo annual migration, Sooty has many distractions and temptations to overcome in order to reach its incredible goal- the North Pacific.

There’s mouth-watering food along the way, potential mates, and many other possible distractions on the path of their yearly destiny.
It is this kind of focus I seek. I want the single-mindedness of a Sooty Shearwater, the sort that is not distracted by the easy way out, or tempted to sneak over and see what the crowd is chasing.
Often times, we find ourselves going back and forth in terms of working on our goals and our growth as human beings. We will go through periods where we work hard consistently everyday without ever feeling burned out, then sometimes we shift and go through periods where we stagnate and put them off for a time.
Let’s be clear however, that there is a big difference between taking small breaks such as a vacation, and stagnation.

Growing as a human being and fulfilling our purpose is meant to be a fun experience, it is what we are here for, it is what we are designed to do. The problem in today’s society is that there are so many things that we get caught up in which can do the opposite. There are many different obstacles in that we must overcome in our lives, and there always will be, but they don’t have to be looked at as negative experiences. Everything we do in our lives is a lesson of some kind, even the most negative experiences have some kind of lesson to be learned, usually the most important ones.

Conclusively, for us to get to our land of gold like the Sooty Shearwater’s “North pacific” we must remain Focused, Determined and Unshaken.
We must remain firm in our believes, goals and aspirations.
If we do… The “North Pacific” would become ours. 🙂
